NO MATTER YOUR GOALS, WE WILL SUPPORT YOU.
The Cape Cod FireFish staff works to develop well-rounded student athletes- who then become well rounded adults. Unlike other clubs, at CCFF, we follow developmental science and encourage our athletes to participate in multiple sports & activities. By actively teaching goal setting, the differences between process & outcome goals, how to reflect on practices, and how to connect practice skills to competitions, we use our unique take on training to help our student-athletes learn how to balance their athletic endeavors with their schooling, work, and social lives.
No matter how many practices you can attend per week, our focus on technique-forward training & physical education allows us to create flexible training paths for each of our athletes.
No matter your goals, no matter your commitment- we will support you.

With these techniques, our student-athletes learn to uplift, support, and lead- skills that will carry them far beyond the pool. Join us, and watch your athletes become their best selves.
Frequently Asked Questions
The USA Development model treats swimming as a year round sport. There are two seasons- Short Course (Fall-Winter), and Long Course (Spring-Summer). The USA Swimming Junior National, National, and Olympic Trial Championships, which we strive to train our student-athletes for, occur in late July/Early August. In the spirit of raining for these experiences, we offer training year round, and actively encourage our student-athletes participate in some capacity year round. That being said- we will never force an athlete to compete & train past what they are comfortable with. Our flexible billing & progressive development model allow our athletes to work up to this. Work-life balance and recovery are as important to our staff as our training is. We typically take a short break between Short Course & Long Course, and a longer break in August, after our final championship for the competition year. We are happy to discuss seasonal training plans and outlooks with each of our athletes and families, and determine what the best path towards sustained success is.
Competitions, called Swim meets, typically occur on weekends. Certain meets, especially Championship format meets, have events on Friday night, or even Thursday night and Friday during the day. Each year, our coaches carefully look at the competition schedule of our conference (LSC), and determine what the most advantageous schedule would be for our team as a whole. We aim to provide a balanced selection of competitions that will provide our athletes with short term success & experiences, such as travel & championship format meets, that will best prepare them for Long Term Success.
Our schedule varies slightly depending on the time of year & the facility's community use schedule. Check out our Resources for more information on what our current schedule is.
We require all children signing up to be able to comfortably swim one length of a 25 yard pool of Freestyle & Backstroke, have an awareness of Breaststroke & Butterfly, and tread water for one minute in order to be eligible for our team. Still working on those trickier skills such as dives & flip turns? No sweat! We will teach & hone these skills in our Developmental Bronze Group.
Championships in swimming follow a predictable pattern. Short Course Season Championships are typically held in late February/Early March. Long Course Season Championships are typically held in Late July/Early August. Knowing when championships are can help you plan your family trips and vacations once your athletes reach this level of success!
